چکیده

We consider a mixed integer set which generalizes two well-known sets: the single node fixedcharge network set and the single arc design set. Such set arises as a relaxation of feasible sets of general mixed integer problems such as lot-sizing and network design problems. We derive several families of valid inequalities that, in particular, generalize the arc residual capacity inequalities and the flow cover inequalities. For the constant capacitated case we provide an extended compact formulation and give a partial description of the convex hull in the original space which is exact under a certain condition. By lifting some basic inequalities we provide some insight on the difficulty of obtaining such a full polyhedral description for the constant capacitated case. Preliminary computational results are presented.

Network design arc set with variable upper bounds

In this paper we study the network design arc set with variable upper bounds. This set appears as a common substructure of many network design problems and is a relaxation of several fundamental mixed-integer sets studied earlier independently. In particular, the splittable flow arc set, the unsplittable flow arc set, the single node fixed-charge flow set, and the binary knapsack set are facial...

A Fast Strategy to Find Solution for Survivable Multicommodity ‎Network‎

This paper proposes an immediately efficient method, based on Benders Decomposition (BD), for solving the survivable capacitated network design problem. This problem involves selecting a set of arcs for building a survivable network at a minimum cost and within a satisfied flow. The system is subject to failure and capacity restriction. To solve this problem, the BD was initially proposed with ...

Mathematical Model for Bi-objective Maximal Hub Covering Problem with Periodic Variations of Parameters

The problem of maximal hub covering as a challenging problem in operation research. Transportation programming seeks to find an optimal location of a set of hubs to reach maximum flow in a network. Since the main structure's parameters of the problem such as origin-destination flows, costs and travel time, change periodically in the real world applications, new issues arise in handling it. In t...

On the Generalized Arc Routing Problem

In this work we study the Generalized Arc Routing Problem (GARP) on an undirected graph. In the GARP a given graph is partitioned into clusters and a route is sought that traverses at least one edge of each cluster. Broadly speaking, the GARP is the arc routing counterpart of the Generalized Traveling Salesman Problem (GTSP). In the GTSP the set of vertices of a given graph is partitioned into ...

The 0-1 Knapsack problem with a single continuous variable

Constraints arising in practice often contain many 0-1 variables and one or a small number of continuous variables. Existing knapsack separation routines cannot be used on such constraints. Here we study such constraint sets, and derive valid inequalities that can be used as cuts for such sets, as well for more general mixed 0-1 constraints. Specifically we investigate the polyhedral structure ...
